The void is a dimension between universes created by Null, an immortal being recognised (and feared) by many as a god.

Null, without creating any objects or structures, wanted to create life of its own, so it chose the void as its testing area. It was perfect, as it had no pre-existing life, but it was also devoid of laws of physics and nature, and so nothing could die.
